In a recent piece for The Cedar Rapids Gazette, Kathy Meyer, an Iowans for Decency member reflects on Rep. Ashley Hinson's musical background, questioning why the core values of music education -- patience, teamwork and listening -- seem missing from her current policy decisions.
"Music education provides to listen carefully, recognize patterns and appreciate the beautiful and bittersweet details of life through music-making."
Meyer goes on to ask Hinson, "What happened to your ability to listen? Why are you so out of tune with the needs, concerns and priorities of most Iowans?"
